The Vice Provost for Academic Diversity (VPAD), Gilda A. Barabino, Ph.D., guides the strategic development of Institute efforts to increase diversity in the Institute’s research, education and service missions. Serving as the chief academic diversity officer, the Vice Provost for Academic Diversity is a member of the President's cabinet and provides the vision to define, assess, and nurture diversity as an institutional and educational resource. The VPAD advises the President, Provost, and other campus leaders regarding diversity issues and provides leadership in the recruitment, retention, and career development of minority and women faculty and students. The VPAD serves as an integrating force for infusion of diversity and equity throughout the academic environment, collaborating and working through the lateral networks of the Institute including admissions, student affairs, human resources, faculty development, marketing and communication, the academic units and institutional development.
